Athena has just started the journey, but we are keeping the importance of sustainable present and the future in mind and in our work. We’re getting greener every step of the way, while still providing you the quality products you deserve.
Around 85% of all textiles produced by the fashion industry end up in landfills, making it a major contributor to environmental damage. What’s more, one in every five items produced by the fashion industry reach landfills without being worn even once. As Athena works with on-demand suppliers, we only produce items we get an order for, avoiding textile waste from overproduction. Our printing partner's high-quality printing tech creates almost no wastewaters and uses less energy than standard industry printers.
Athena offers shipping world-wide, but we know that a product made in Latvia delivering to USA is not very eco-responsible. That is why we have chosen the best possible suppliers who has warehouses in different regions, providing faster shipping times and lower shipping costs, and it also helps with reducing the CO₂ emissions produced when transporting orders. We are trying to be as transparent as we can, that is why we have mentioned on each product description from where the product is sourced from.
Our clothing is printed with the direct-to-garment (DTG) printing method. The printing tech we use is made with sustainability in mind, and our Kornit printers use almost zero wastewater and less energy than standard industry printers, lowering our carbon footprint. The inks we use for printing are vegan, water-based, and free of harmful chemicals. Athena takes sustainability seriously, that’s why we take care to dispose of any left-over ink according to the ink supplier guidelines.
We offer you range of high quality products that last many washes, keeping printed colors vibrant and the fabric soft. To help you keep it that way, we have added care instructions on most of our products, so that you can wash and dry them responsibly. A longer lasting product means less consumption and we love that! We are also trying to add more eco-friendly products in our store. Make sure to keep checking the Eco page for updated products.
